So Nice to Meet You!

Let me start off by saying it is SO not me to put such a huge picture of myself, that close up (!), anywhere. But I had this crazy notion of starting a blog that focused on the intersection of my two favorite passions in life (after my family of course!), Disney World and interior design. And best practice in the blog world says to show your face and write a little blurb about yourself so your readers know who you are. So here I am!

My name is Leslie and I’ve been visiting Walt Disney World since I was 8 years old. It’s been my happy place ever since. That was also about the age that my grandfather, who was a painter, started teaching me his craft, which led to a lot of DIY home decorating and design projects through the years. I love it so much I’ve even taken an interior design training program and numerous workshops on decorating and color.

My husband and I have four kids, and we even were married at Sea Breeze Point outside the Boardwalk Resort. It was the best start to our life as a blended family.

My career has been in marketing, which has been very good to me, but now that the older kids are grown, I have some time to pursue my two loves.

SO SAD! 🙁

I have a confession to make.

As much as I love Disney World, and updating/decorating my home, I really have no desire to turn my entire house into a shrine to Mickey or anyone else. But I LOVE to add touches here and there that remind me of all of the fabulous vacations we’ve had, or just have something to smile at when the laundry and cleaning are piling up. Or find ways to take inspiration from a movie or attraction and work it into a design aesthetic so that it’s more like a secret handshake among those who know ; )

And to those who have made their whole home in the likeness of the World, I take my Mickey ears off to you. And I hope you’ll share your magic.

My vision is to a create a space to share ideas and inspiration, woven in with favorite stories and memories, with fellow Disney and home decor enthusiasts.

It all started with…

…no, not a mouse. Rather a guest room that we originally dubbed the “COVID room” after our oldest moved out and we finally had space for a guest room. But the pandemic hit a few weeks later, so we just had to scramble to get some basic furniture in there.

Sprucing up that room took a back seat to a few other projects in the home, but when I finally got back to it, I had the idea to work in a Mary Poppins theme (first movie I ever remember crying at – I won’t say how old I was). Anyhow, that project was the genesis for this blog, and you can read all about it here.

If you’ve made it reading this far well, THANK YOU, and you definitely deserve some sort of prize!
